Engagement

Quote and engagement with your accountant

1. After an introductory meeting you receive a quote or proposal with the work and the fee. A quote is not binding unless it states a validity period.
2. The engagement starts as soon as you accept the quote in writing or by email.
3. Michiel carries out the work himself. Finance People has no staff.

Documents

Supplying documents for your bookkeeping

• You supply all information and documents needed on time, complete and correct, such as invoices, receipts and bank statements.
• You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of what you supply. I check for logic, not for authenticity.
• If your situation changes, for example a new income stream or a different VAT position, let me know as soon as possible.
• The consequences of late, incomplete or incorrect information, such as fines or additional assessments, are at your expense.

Deadlines

VAT and income tax return deadlines

For the quarterly or monthly VAT return and the annual income tax return, the deadlines of the Dutch Tax Administration apply. We agree per engagement when you supply the documents. If you deliver on time, I make sure the return is filed on time. If you deliver late, I will do my best, but I cannot guarantee timely filing. Agreed deadlines for my own work are target dates, unless we agree on a strict deadline in writing.

Payment

Fees and payment

The fee is tailored and follows from the agreement in your quote, for example a fixed price per year or per month. Work outside the agreed engagement is only done after consultation. Invoices are paid within the term stated on the invoice. If payment is late, I may suspend the work after a reminder until the invoice is paid.

Liability

Liability and confidentiality

Liability

Liability. My liability is limited to the invoiced amount of the engagement the damage relates to. I am not liable for damage caused by incorrect or incomplete information you supplied. This limitation does not apply in case of intent or deliberate recklessness.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality. Everything you entrust to me is treated as confidential. I only share it with third parties when the engagement requires it, such as the Dutch Tax Administration, or when the law obliges me. How I handle personal data is described in the Finance People privacy statement.

Ending

Termination and governing law

• Either of us can terminate the engagement in writing with a reasonable notice period, which we set out in the quote.
• After termination, I invoice the work already done. You receive your documents back or in digital form.
• Dutch law applies to these terms and to every engagement.
• We first try to resolve any disagreement together. If that fails, the competent court in the Netherlands has jurisdiction.
